My very first blog entry!

Okay so it's Friday night, it is snowing and yes I am attempting to write my very first blog. My, how Friday nights have changed over the years. Fifteen years ago I would have been showering and getting ready to eat the wonderful dorm food supplied by my university and trying to decide where to hang out for the night. Perhaps, a greasy burger and a Leinenkugel Dark (1. because the dorm food really wasn't that wonderful and 2. this shady little hole in the wall that we all loved served Leine Dark on tap for a dollar) or do we dare go straight to the bars and possibly be the first losers there.  I guess the other choices were pretty good too. My roomates and I had this stupid (but hilarious) idea of calling people at all hours of the night and shouting "Are you in bed for the night"? Okay, I agree it sounds beyond dumb but to hear those drunken, pissed off responses was pure entertainment to us. I could go on forever about my college years but I may be the only one laughing.
So as I was saying, it's my first entry and I will be honest not quite sure what I am going to talk about. Just thought it would be an interesting adventure. First off, the blog title is Steak Diane. It's kinda of funny because my name is Diane and I love steak however I have never eaten Steak Diane. The name is really quite a joke and I can't really explain why but I was hoping to talk about what other Moms would want to hear and talk about (maybe some Dads too). Good food, good wine, interior design, great kids, celebrity gossip and Chicago sports. Yes, I am a sports nut!!! No, I am not going to talk about how awesome Derek Rose was last night (honestly there won't be much talk at all about the Bulls unless Jordan & Pippen are making a comeback). The Bears and the Blackhawks are my favorite. I am sure I will be talking, about how hot Patrick Sharp looked and why did he cut his hair (yep, I am very aware he just got married, I am happily married as well) as opposed to "Wow, Patrick Sharp is one of the leading scorers in the NHL right now". That's great, but I don't think I am going to be talking about stats unless I start running a fantasy hockey league! More of a, "Sweet, my husband saw Peanut Tillman at OakBrook Mall and he was buying...".
My only hope maybe after a year or so I will have one follower. That will make me happy. I'm certainly not expecting the Polish Parade to be following me because of my URL address ( Eddie Olczyk, would be good though).  I should however give a shout out to my wonderful great-grandparents who immigrated here to Chicago many, many years ago.  Chicago, I believe is the second biggest population of Polish persons outside of Poland so I thought it was fitting to call myself my husbands polish princess. My sister might be the only one to really appreciate this URL name but heck, e blogger said to be creative so I got creative. Well, I hope you understand me a bit better and what I will be trying to achieve with this blog.  I will have to learn along the way as well but I am thinking a very gossipy Chicago review of food, celebrity and sports...we'll see. Have a good Friday night!
